Warning Signs
When a Warm Outlet Means Call Now
An outlet should never feel warm to the touch. If only one or two things are plugged in and the outlet is warm, either the device is failing or the wires behind the outlet have worked loose, and loose connections behind the wall are one of the most common ways electrical fires start. Move the plugs to another outlet and stop using that one until it is checked.
A few other signs mean you should stop and call an electrician right away rather than wait: sparks or a snap when you plug something in or unplug it, a crackling sound when you flip a switch, and any plastic or burning smell near an outlet or switch. Those point to a problem behind the wall, not a bad device. Our licensed team can find the loose or damaged connection and make it safe. At Spectrum Electric, we answer these calls across Orlando and Central Florida, so reach us at (407) 880-8977 if something feels off.
