Residential Electrical Services
Spectrum Electric has been the go-to residential electrician for Orlando, Casselberry, and the surrounding Central Florida area since 2000. We handle everything from a single outlet replacement to a full home rewire. Our electricians are licensed under Florida Contractor License EC13008455, carry full insurance, and work on homes in every age bracket, from 1950s block construction in College Park to new builds in Lake Nona.
We answer most service calls within one day, and the majority of residential jobs wrap up on the same day we arrive. We stock standard replacement parts on our trucks, which means fewer delays waiting for materials. If your job requires a permit (panel upgrades, new circuits, rewiring, EV chargers), we handle the application and inspection coordination.
First-time customers and senior citizens receive 10% off all labor charges on service calls.
Our Residential Electrical Services
Electrical Panel Upgrades
Most homes in Central Florida that are 30+ years old still run on 100-amp panels. If your breakers trip regularly, you can't add a new appliance without shutting something else off, or you're planning an EV charger or pool heater, a panel upgrade to 200-amp or 400-amp service gives your home the capacity it needs. We handle the permit, the install, and the inspection.
EV Charger Installation
Charging at home is faster and cheaper than public stations. We install Level 2 chargers for Tesla, Ford, Chevy, and every other EV brand. Our team evaluates your panel capacity, recommends the best charger location, and handles all wiring and permitting.
Whole-Home Rewiring
Older homes with aluminum wiring, knob-and-tube remnants, or undersized circuits need rewiring to meet current safety codes. We rewire homes efficiently, room by room when possible, to minimize disruption while bringing your electrical system up to NEC standards.
Lighting Installation
Recessed lights, chandeliers, under-cabinet LEDs, landscape lighting, and commercial-grade fixtures. We install all of it. LED upgrades are one of our most popular requests because they cut energy bills significantly and last for years.
Ceiling Fan Installation
Florida heat makes ceiling fans essential. We install new fans, replace old ones, and add fan-rated electrical boxes where none exist. Proper installation means safe operation and a fan that actually moves air instead of wobbling.
Outlets and Switches
Dead outlets, ungrounded two-prong receptacles, missing GFCI protection in bathrooms and kitchens, or simply not enough outlets for a home office. We add, replace, and upgrade outlets and switches throughout your home.
Surge Protection
A single lightning strike or power surge can destroy thousands of dollars in electronics and appliances. Whole-home surge protection installs at your panel and shields everything connected to your electrical system.
Whole-Home Generators
Hurricane season in Florida means power outages. A whole-home generator kicks on automatically when the grid goes down, keeping your AC, refrigerator, and medical equipment running. We size, install, and maintain generators from the top manufacturers.
Electrical Inspections
Buying a home, selling one, or just want peace of mind about your wiring? Our thorough inspections identify hazards, code violations, and areas where your system needs attention. We provide a detailed written report you can share with buyers, agents, or insurance companies.
24/7 Emergency Electrical Service
Power outages, sparking outlets, burning smells, or exposed wiring don't wait for business hours. Neither do we. Our emergency electricians are available around the clock for urgent situations.
Residential Electrician FAQ
How much does it cost to hire a residential electrician in Orlando?
Costs depend on the job. A single outlet replacement runs $150 to $350. Panel upgrades typically cost $1,800 to $3,500. Whole-home rewiring for a 3-bedroom house ranges from $8,000 to $15,000 or more. We provide free on-site estimates with exact written pricing before any work starts.
Do you pull permits for residential electrical work?
Yes. Seminole County and Orange County both require permits for most electrical work beyond basic fixture swaps. We handle the permit application, scheduling, and inspection coordination on every job that requires one.
How do I know if my home needs rewiring?
Common signs include flickering lights, warm outlets, frequent breaker trips, two-prong (ungrounded) outlets throughout the house, or a panel branded Federal Pacific or Zinsco. If your home was built before 1980 and hasn't been rewired, an inspection is a good starting point.
Can you work on older homes in Orlando?
Absolutely. A large portion of our work is on homes built in the 1950s through 1980s. We regularly work in College Park, Conway, Colonialtown, Audubon Park, and other established Orlando neighborhoods with aging electrical systems.
